09/12/09, Christmas Extravaganza A huge thanks and a well done to everyone who played in the Christmas Extravaganza yesterday evening - it was a great way to end another amazing term of Blowsoccy goodness. What's more, we raised an impressive £484.55 for our chosen charity When You Wish Upon A Star! Have a great Christmas!
22/11/09, National Concert Band Festival Following a painfully early start and a disconsertingly boat-like bus journey to Northampton, Wind Orchestra achieved a gold award at the National Concert Band Festival. This great result means that they may be asked to perform at the Festival's Final early next year. Congratulations to everyone involved!
20/11/09, Blowsoc-Mussoc Football After a dissapointing result last season, Blowsoc stepped their game up and walked all over mussoc with a 7-1 victory on the astro turf. This puts Blowsoc 1-0 up this season - just one game away from reclaiming the famous foil trophy! A special mention to Joe Matthews for an impressive 4 goals! Check out the facebook group for more.
10/11/09, Monster Wind Band Announced Prepare yourselves for this year's Monster Wind Band as players from every corner of Blowsoc come together to raise the roof at our Christmas concert on the 9th December! Rehearsals will be on Fridays starting on the 20th November from 4:30-6pm in the Muisc Department Rehearsal Hall. You don't need to have signed up, just turn up ready for some classic Christmas cheesiness.
20/10/09, Tour Sign Up Extended Sign up is now open to ALL Blowsoc members. So if you haven't already put your name down - act now! The list is on the Blowsoc noticeboard, where you can also leave your £80 deposit cheques (made out to U of N SU Blowsoc). Note: the £80 deposit is included in the total £295. To all those signed up, make sure you join the facebook group and keep an eye on the tour site.
09/10/09, Tour Sign Up Open! Sign up has started for Wind Orchestra and Moonlighters! Get your names on the list on the Blowsoc noticeboard with a nice little cheque for £80 to U of N SU Blowsoc to cement your place on the coach of legends! And if you havn't already, join the facebook group.

22/08/09, Tour Destination Decided! Our Tour Manager Adam Law has confirmed that this year, Blowsoc will be hitting Vienna! The exact dates are 26 April - 2 May, 2010. This promises to be another very memorable week, so stick the date in your diaries now! More information will appear on the tour page nearer the time.
12/06/09, Blowsoc-Mussoc Football At 1-1, the third and final match in this year's series was to decide the championship and who got to take home the famous foil-clad trophy. Unfortunately, despite a valient effort on the part of the Blowsoc squad, the victory fell to Mussoc, who produced a glut of second-half goals to end the match 4-1. The trophy will be presented at the ball on Sunday 14th June.
27/04/09, Blowsoc AGM The AGM was held on Monday 27th April in the Venue. The agenda can be downloaded here. As well as electing a new committee (see the committee section), several big changes were voted in:
22/04/09, Blowsoc EGM On Wednesday 22nd April, an EGM was held to decide the future of Wind Orchestra. Members were given the chance to vote whether to hand Wind Orchestra over to Lakeside, or to keep it in Blowsoc and forgo the funding Lakeside provides to pay for a professional conductor. The almost unanimous decision was to keep Wind Orchestra in Blowsoc. The details of this new arrangement will be voted on at the AGM on Monday 27th. Click here for the agenda. |
